Bradley Snyder clinches Men’s 400m freestyle gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Bradley Snyder of USA clinched gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle in S11 category on ninth day of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Friday, September 7.
The American swimmer stifled hopes of his opponents in the eight-lap discipline, as he showed no leniency to his competitors and surfaced on the finishing end for the title of the event.
Snyder remained nearly 10 metres ahead of his closest rival as he touched the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 32.41 seconds for gold medal.
The gold medallist was followed by Enhamed Enhamed of Spain, who stayed almost six seconds apart and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 38.24 seconds.
The Spanish player was chased by Bozun Yang of China, who remained nearly three body lengths slower from his preceding swimmer and hit the finishing blockade for bronze medal by touching the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 41.73 seconds.
Yang was traced by Israel Oliver of Spain, who was considerably slower from his former finisher and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting an effort of 4 minutes and 48.86 seconds.
Oliver was trailed by Dmytro Zalevskyy of Ukraine, who suffered a loss of nearly five seconds from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 53.46 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Matheus Souza of Brazil, who remained prominently behind and touched the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 58.50 seconds.
Souza enjoyed an advantage of 1.01 seconds from Hendri Herbst of South Africa, who managed to end his swim in seventh best place by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 59.51 seconds.
Last position of the event was secured by Viktor Smyrnov of Ukraine, who was one and a half body length behind and clocked a time of 5 minutes and 01.06 seconds.
Furthermore, Snyder expressed contentment over his victory at the medal ceremony of the event.
