Bradley Wiggins leading the Tour de France classifications
Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky Procycling was declared a pre-race favourite before the start of the Tour de France 2012.
The cyclist had a terrific start to his 2012 campaign and bagged numerous victories including first place finishes and stage victories at the Paris-Nice, the Tour de Romandie and the Criterium du Dauphine 2012.
He also managed to secure the third overall position at the Volta ao Algarve and secured the Individual Time Trial stage 5 of the race.
Team Sky cyclist currently holds the third overall position after the UCI World Tour Individual Rankings with a total number of 335 UCI points.
Joaquim Rodriguez of Team Katusha is leading the category with 404 UCI points to his credit while Tom Boonen of Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step holding the second spot with 366 points in his back pocket.
An Associated Press reported asked Wiggins about the comments on his Twitter page, "What do you say to the cynics who think that you have to be doped up to win the Tour de France?"
The British replied, “They are just f***ing w*****s. I cannot be doing with people like that”.
“It justifies their own bone-idleness because they can’t ever imagine applying themselves to anything in their lives”.
“It’s easy for them to sit under a pseudonym on Twitter rather than get off their arses in their own life and apply themselves and work hard at something and achieve something, and that’s ultimately it. C***s!"
Wiggins finished fourth during the eighth stage of the Tour and jumped up to the first overall spot after the stage 8 classifications.
Fabian Cancellara was leading the classifications right from the first stage but the Swiss could not hold onto the top spot for too long and is now dropped down to the 36th overall spot.
Tour de France 2011 winner, Cadel Evans is holding the second position with a total deficit of 10 seconds on the race leader.
Vincenzo Nibali of Team Liquigas-Cannondale is further six seconds behind at the third position with Denis Menchov of Team Katusha and Haimar Zubeldia Agirre of Team RadioShack-Nissan holding the fourth and the fifth positions, respectively.
