Bradley Wiggins leaves hospital after a training crash
Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky was training near his home on Wednesday evening when a van, pulling out of the petrol station collided with the Brit and he was transported straight to the Royal Preston Hospital as a precaution.
However, the cyclist survived major injuries and has now been discharged from the hospital as confirmed by the Team Doctor Richard Freeman.
"Bradley has been discharged from hospital after suffering minor injuries, including bruises to his right hand and ribs, but is expected to make a full and speedy recovery. He is now going to spend the weekend at home convalescing with his family," he cited.
While commenting on the accident, the petrol station attendant briefed to Lancashire Evening Post, "By the time I got there he had moved to a safer place but was still on the ground and he was in a lot of pain”.
"He said he thought he had broken his ribs and while a lot of police cars arrived it was about 15 minutes before the ambulance got there by which time he was blue".
Bradley Wiggins is currently enjoying the best form of his career which was evident with his heroic performance at the Tour de France 2012.
The cyclist easily claimed the top overall position at the French Grand Tour and became part of the history by becoming the first British cyclist to bag an overall victory at the Tour de France.
He also claimed stages at the Paris-Nice, Tour de Romandie, Criterium du Dauphine, Tour de France and the Volta ao Algarve 2012.
Wiggins currently holds the second overall position after the UCI World Tour Individual rankings with a total number of 601 points to his credit.
Joaquim Rodriguez Oliver leads the category with 692 points while Tom Boonen (410 points), Vincenzo Nibali (400 points) and Alejandro Valverde (394 points) securing the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
The Brit also claimed an Olympics gold in front of the home crowd after his storming performance at the London Olympic Games and received one of the most prestigious cycling award, Vélo d'Or as the world’s best cyclist of the season.
