Bradley Wiggins satisfied with his Criterium du Dauphine Prologue performance
Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky fell one second short during the opening prologue of the Criterium du Dauphine 2012.
He was terrific during the 5.7 kilometre Individual Time Trial stage of the race and fell one second short of the race leader Luke Durbridge of Team Orica GreenEdge.
Andriy Grivko of Team Astana finished three seconds behind at the third position while Carlos Barredo of Team Rabobank and Tony Martin of Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step occupied the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Bradley was happy with his second place finish and noted that the one second deficit will not make much difference during the final classifications.
"I'm happy enough to finish second but it's about the whole week. I couldn't have asked for better today," he posted at the TeamSky.com
"It's always the same with prologues. With riders going three hours apart there's always different conditions”.
“The wind changed massively today. Some guys had disadvantages on the course elsewhere at the start and also advantages”.
“That changed and you can't really compare rides. At the end of the day the result is the result and that's just the pick of prologues”.
"I'm just pleased it stayed dry really because it's never nice riding a prologue in the rain,” he concluded.
