Bradman's Missing Runs Found?

A Mr Charles Davis who has been studying old scorebooks, has discovered 4 runs that would take Bradmans average to a cool 100! He said errors occurred regularly in the old scorebooks & the four runs were in the wrong place. They were attributed wrongly to Jack Ryder who was batting with Bradman in a match V England in 1928-29 test series. One explanation is that they may indeed have been scored by Bradman, bringing his average too 100 for his career. Do you think there is any substance to this claim?

  1. That's pretty amazing. The missing four runs taking his average to 100. However even though these four runs lifts his average it's not going to change the way Sir Bradman is viewed, i don't think it's possible to put him any higher than he is in people's minds, so I think it should stay a story and not a fact.

  2. I've always wondered, and secretly hoped that might be true.

Even if I am English.  Give him the hundred.  It would be on merit any way.

  3. What's the point, Don isn't around to confirm, and how do you substantiate it anyway. Oh look, that should have been a leg bye but has been given to Don. Where would it end ?

  4. No, i don't think even if Sir Don would have been alive, he would have accepted this !

he is greater with that average of 99.XX rather than being discovered with some old runs which has no substantiation !

Charles is trying to gain publicity for himself using Sir Don! does Charles have complete coverage of ball by ball of that test series, i don't think so?

    god bless!

  5. When people here the number 99.94 they instantly think of Donald Bradman.

The story of Bradman needing 4 in his last match and getting out to a googly has to be one of the most told cricketing stories of all time.

My point is that Bradman has a legacy as the greatest cricketer of all time, he doesnt need the extra 4 runs, people would always question whether the 4 runs were legit or not? Whether he has an average of 100 or 99.94 it doesnt matter he was still the greatest.

It would be pointless giving Bradman the extra 4 runs just for nostalgia sake, those 4 runs could have belonged to anyone??

  6. Bradman is the name of a gr8. not matter his average 100 or 98. and 99.94 are magical numbers
