Question:

Brady worth the #1 pick?

Have the first pick in my draft and am looking at taking Brady. Our league scores 6 pts for both rushing and passing td's. Some say it's a no brainer while others have told me I'm crazy not to take LT or AP.

  1. I agree with every one else. Brady is a late third round pick. You want to get L.T. or Adrian Peterson.  There is some debate as to who is going to be better.

  2. gonna keep it short because most elaborated already. a solid qb will be available later. they always are. i believe it was the 06 season when most people were passing on brees because of thoughts of him not doing much in N.O. I got em late because he fell. dont think he'll have the same impact but, a jamarcus russell could be that this time around. just my thought

  3. No... You are crazy if you don't... A RB is more important... If you draft Brady, if you're lucky you would end up with the 15th and 16th best running backs... This will hurt you in the long run...

You're better off taking 2 RBs in the first 3 rounds...

You could draft Brees or Romo 30 spots lower, for a small difference in points...

Brady will not get 500 Fantasy points this year either...

As many have pointed out, waiting on taking a RB can be fatal... If you pass on a 350 point running back to take a 400 point QB, you'll end up with a 200 point RB and a 150 point RB with your 2nd and 3rd round picks...  A total of 750 points... If you take that 350 RB in the first, then the 200 point RB in the second, you can still land a 350 point QB in the 3rd, for a total of 900 points...

My league gives 6 points a TD, 20 yards per point; 2 bonus points at 300 yards; 2 bonus points at 400 yards; 2 bonus points at 500 yards... -2 per int -1 per sack...

    Last years QB stats...

    Brady.................523

    Manning..............355

    Anderson............333

    Hasselbeck.........300

    Roethlisberger....297

    Romo..................388

    Brees..................341

    Palmer................310

    Favre..................328

    Cutler..................247

    Garrard................223

    McNabb................227

And what round did most of those guys go in??? If you pass on a QB, you can still get one later... If you pass on a RB, the stud backs that put up good numbers will be gone...

Maybe you should try a mock draft at Mock Draft Central...

You can do a practice draft just to get a feel for it... Do one, and see how your team looks...

  4. Take LT man, trust me

  5. OMG, these people are idiots.

How do you pass over a 50 passing TD and 2 running TD QB if he is available???

The Patriots have the easiest schedule in the league, they only face 4 teams that had winning records last season. They will dominate just like they did last year.

So what if he doesn't pass for 50 TDs again, what if he only passes for 40?

I have 5 fantasy teams and I have him on 4 of them, with my first pick.

I have been playing fantasy for years, and I know last season every time I faced a team with him as QB, his points practically beat me all by himself.

Everyone tries this "draft RB first" theory all the time, don't believe it. Most teams are going to a running back by committee philosophy anyway.

RBs get hurt much more often as well.

So if you can get Brady in the first round, GRAB HIM.

    I did.

  6. Logic off the top of your head would tell you that Brady is a smart pick for a league that scores 6 points per passing TD. However, there are other QB's out there who are going to throw for a lot of TD's as well.

Running back is always the strong foundation to a good team. LT is hands down the number one pick in any draft. He's the best all-around player out there. You saw what he did two years ago. It was unreal. Last year he dropped off a bit, but he's the one guy who I would actually expect to have a monster year from. Almost guaranteed.

Guys like Carson Palmer, Drew Brees, and Matt Hasselbeck are getting drafted late. Even a guy like Marc Bulger could put up some huge numbers.

There's no way you can expect last year's Brady numbers to be anywhere near this year. That's a once in a career type season.

And as for your logic to getting good backs in rounds 2-4, I honestly don't think guys like Brandon Jacobs, Laurence Maroney, etc. are going to be that great.

Play it safe, take LT, and enjoy a monster year from him.

  7. i have the #1 pick too.  When I take brady, in mock drafts My team looks horrible.  I end up with subpar recievers and subpar backs.   ITs like every other team has better receivers and better running backs.  It just doesnt work. You have to go LT with the #1 pick.  Just think of it this way.  Once the draft is over you could probably trade LT to the brady owner straight up  at worst case and most likely trade LT for brady plus someone else.

  8. Brady was such a great pick last year because people, including me, got him later.  I think I got him in the 4th round after Qb's like Manning, Brees, Palmer, and even Bulger.

You have to do some figuring on how your team would look with Brady or with LT.  Would you rather have a Brady/Earnest Graham combo or an LT/Roethlisberger combo.  I'll take the 2nd one.  Just an example but I don't think Brady's going to have near the year he had last year.  Remember Peyton Manning after his record setting year?  Defenses will adjust and the Pats will want to run more.  Plus these injury reports on Brady scare me.  I think they'll pound the ball more to keep him healthy.  And Brady won't be gunning for the passing record so they're not going to be throwing in the 4th quarter when they're up by 4 TD's like they did last year.  I'd say about 32 TD's for this year.

  9. why don't you trade you first  and second round picks for someone else's first and second . that way you fall back in the draft order, take Brady then You pick earlier in the next round and pick up a monster Rb or WR.Make your trade and Pick for  the guy you trade with and then tell him who to pick for you when it's his turn. Understand?

  10. the 3rd pick, not the first pick. He's not as good as westbrook and LT, but he's better than everybody else. Even peterson (He had a bad second half last year, since people are doing 8 in the box on him). You can still get somebody like big ben in the second round. Which would you rather have:

If u pick him first: Brady, Grant, and like turner

or: Big ben, LT, and Grant

    don't pick him #1.
