Brazilian forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lima-c22267 has reiterated his side’s title ambitions, saying that they can win the Primeira Liga after closing the gap on Benfica and FC Porto.
Every year it is usually the same story. Either Benfica or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 win the title in the end despite some close calls with other teams during the season.
The Portistas were the ones who lifted the Liga Sagres trophy last year alongside three other major trophies and were clearly the best of the lot. However much has changed since then and they are no longer the invincibles they once were.
The Eagles weren’t on top of their game last time out but have managed to pull themselves back in contention for silverware after a string of impressive performances. But lately even they have stuttered, allowing Porto to go back on top of the table.

Currently 3rd in the standings, they are only 3 points behind the league leaders and with the Classico coming shortly, it could provide them with the chance to enter the top two.
Brazilian striker Lima, who has been Archbishops’ leading light this term, has reiterated his team’s title credentials, saying that while they did not imagine being in the current situation when the season commenced, they will surely challenge for the Portuguese league as they are quite close now.
"The goal was to stay in the top four, but now we are very close to first place and no doubt we are title contenders. We have shown good football and we look forward to this series of good results.”
He also added that it was important to stay focused on the task at hand and try to win all their matches, which will be a difficult task no doubt.
"Braga needs to take it game by game and it is important to keep our feet on the ground. We hope to maintain the same strength at home and away, but things will not be easy.”
Lastly, the forward revealed that he was hoping that FC Porto and Benfica play out a draw, which will allow his side to close the gap between them.
"It would be nice, as it would reduce the difference, but Braga have to play well. We have to first think about winning our game with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nacional-c39984, which will be super-hard,” he said.
SC Braga takes on Nacional on the 4th of March away from home, while the Classico takes place on the 2nd.
