  1. Martha Stewart .com. and than go to her weddings.

  2. From the photos , that's what is generally called a french knot.

If want it to be two toned , or one colour ,

1- wrap the taped stems in a wide satin/velvet ribbon. pin it with a small undecorated (no pearl) pin

2-cut a very long peice of the second ribbon, this ribbon should be of a thin/medium in width , also it should satin (velvet ribbon is uaully one sided an will start to look tackey after being twisted so much)

3-take the thin ribbon and pin the middle of it to the back of the bouquet at the top.

4- bring the ribbon to the front of the bouquet and in the center , cross each peice over the other  and twist them

5- (optional as some ribbon is thick enough to create a "knot" )  Tie a basic knot directly over the twist

6- bring each side of the ribbon to the back of the bouquet and do the same , making sure it is center

7- keep repeating this , crossing the ribbon and  making sure that each little knot is centered.

8- when you have reached the bottom of the bouquet make the last knot in the BACK or the bouquet.  Cut the ends very close to the knot.   Use standard undecorated pins to secure the ends.

9- if you want to add pearled pins or any other decorated pin , do it now.

if you want to show some stem , heres how.

    DO NOT TAPE THE BOUQUET!!

use pipe cleaners to secure the bouquet

use the same technique for the the thin ribbon.

    Remove the pipe cleaners

with both techniques , the ribbon must be TIGHT!!

remember to keep the knots centered

and most importanty , leave the stems long enough so that the bouquet can sit in water without getting the ribbon wet and chancing that if the ribbon did get wet , the colour is going to bleed.  You can cut the stems just before the bouquet is needed

I typically do not leave ribbon hanging down from bouquets tied with french knots, how ever , if you must have them , usually  a beautifully tied bow is at the bottom of the french knots.

    Hope this helps!!

  4. French braid normally refers to a hairstyle, where the braid is done down the head while drawing in hair from either side. Are you referring to doing a braid down bouquet while incorporating stems (or something else) as you go along, or to doing a wrap using a braided material?

  5. I work in a flower shop and know what you're referring to. Let me try to help:

First, you're going to need two types of ribbon: wide ribbon that you'll use to initially wrap the bouquet, and then a thin ribbon that you'll use to braid over it. Both types of ribbon should be satin-- if you can't get satin ribbon, you can use acetate ribbon, but it'll give your bouquet a cheap look. You'll also need some wide floral tape (you can buy some from your local florist or even a craft store, its really inexpensive) and some pins. We use pearl pins which are also available at craft stores of flower shops. And finally, you'll need pipe cleaners (also called chenille stems). So what you'll want to do is get your bouquet all arranged (it helps to do this in a vase, but its not needed.). Now, pick up the bouquet, making sure not to readjust the flowers, and take a pipe cleaner. WRAP it TIGHTLY around the TOPS of the stems, right where the flowers themselves meet the stem. Push up on the pipe cleaner to ensure a tight fit. This will give your bouquet ability to hold its shape. Now, this is the tricky part. Take the floral tape and, with your thumb, press it to the stems, right under your pipe cleaner. Now, wrap the tape around the stems, all the way down to the bottom. The key to this is to constantly pull on the tape to ensure it sticks. STRETCH the tape and wrap. STRETCH-WRAP, hahaha. When you get to the bottom (leave about 2 inches of stem at the bottom unwrapped.) press the tape to the stems; if it doesn't stay, thats okay. Now take your ribbon and do the same thing; start at the top and wrap to the end of the tape. You don't have to stretch the ribbon because it'll stay by itself. Now, when you get to the bottom, take a pin and pin it right into the bunch of stems. Pin all the way to the top of the stems. Now, take your thin ribbon and wrap it in between the pins. Have someone else hold the bouquet for you as you weave the thin ribbon in between the pins, tying it at the bottom. Trim the excess thin braiding ribbon and you're all set!
