Question:

Brain Surgery questions!?

Hello everyone. My best friend, back in Texas, had a seizure at work early Friday morning (yesterday). She has NEVER had one before. It was VERY sudden and unexpected. She has had a history of migraines, but doctors would always prescribe Ibuprofen...things like that. Anyway, it was so serious that she was airlifted to a hospital. They administered tests, and found that her brain has hemorrhaged 2-3 centimeters, and that she has an aneurysm. Tomorrow (or should I say this) morning she will have more tests taken to see how they will need to perform surgery (either through the brain, or through a major artery).

If anyone can provide me anymore information, PLEASE do so!! I would like to know how good her chances are of having this serious type of surgery w/o any complications. Also, I live in VA Beach & wanted opinions on whether I should just take off tomorrow to see her.

Her doctor said she may end up with speech problems with this surgery(Upper-left area of the brain.)

  1. Sorry to hear about your friend.  It's a serious thing, but many patients do very well.

Here is a site with a lot of info:

    http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/cereb...

You aren't going to be able to do much, and you might not even be able to see her, so I'd definitely call before rushing out there.

My prayers are with both of you for a successful outcome!

  2. webmd.com might be the place to look for detailed information. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with your friend and her family. If you strongly feel you need to be there.. I would suggest going. *hugs*
