Brain bleed in the brain stem. Can you recover?

My sister is currently in the ICU. She was on a vent for a week. We are on a roller coaster ride. She has not been able to start any intense therapy. Just the basics. Does anyone know anyone who has been through this and recovered?

  1. A bleed in the brain stem is a very serious condition, but the severity can vary by the exact location of the bleed, how quickly treatment was administered and how much damage was done to the brain. The fact that your sister is off the vent and able to do basic therapy is a good sign. And yes, there are people who do recover from this type of stroke. The amount of recovery will also vary, there is no way to know. Her neurologist will have a better indication of the actual brain damage and may be able to give you a prognosis. I wish her and your family luck.
