Brain damaged responses - what would you expect to see?

If there are 2 individuals, one who has left hemisphere damage while the other has vice versa, what would you expect to see/find when they are asked to sketch out a letter (e.g. H) out of smaller symbols (e.g. D's)?

Would the left-hemisphere damaged patient simply draw a letter, while the right hemisphere damaged patient drew out what he/she was asked?

Note: The left side of the brain consists of the Brocas and Wernicks area.

  1. Right hemisphere damage. They cannot percieve the whole shape formed from disparate elements but can draw local componants, so will draw many Ds in disorder, not in a H. Patients with left hemisphere damage can not percieve the separate elements that make up the whole, and draw a H.

The linguistic capabilities (Broca and Wernick's areas) are actually irrelevant to this task. Exactly the same occurs with non-linguistic stimuli (i.e. a triangle made up of rows of squares). It's just copying shapes, they don't have to know what they mean. That bit is a red herring. It's about holistic and reductionist processing; the right hemisphere is more holostic, and the left more reductionist.
