3 guys were traveling and had to split the bill for a $30 motel room. Each guy threw in $10. Once the men made it to their room, the cashier realized that she had over charged the men $5. She gave the bell boy $5 to take back to the men. The bell boy kept $2 because he knew the 3 guys couldn't split it evenly. Each guy recieved a dollar making there total out of pocket cost $9 each. The bell boy kept $2 making the overall total $29. Where's the missing dollar?

  1. There is no missing dollar. The men should have paid $25, but they have paid $30. Now they got back $1 each. So they paid 3 x $9 = $27 for the room. $27 - $25 = $2 and that is exactly what the bellboy took.

  2. the dollar is with the men split up into cents

  3. 30 total - 5 refund = 25 + 2 the bellboy kept + 3 returned.

Sounds like each guy paid 9 because they each got 1 back and the bellboy kept 2

    Actually each paid 9.333

  4. There is no missing dollar..the total still comes up to what they should have paid $28.

  5. The only missing dollar is the two dollars the bellboy stole.

  6. If you do the calculation carefully, there is no $ missing.

  7. The hotel has $25, the bell boy has $2, and each of

the men have $1.  So, 25+2+1+1+1=30, nothing missing.
