do i have a brain tumour? for about 2 months or so my vision has been strange, its hard to explain but i can see millions and millions of clear dots floating in my vison 24/7, day and night. i think im also drowsy a little. also, for about 3 days my head has started hurting in a different way to what it has ever been. sharp, mild pains on anywhere on my head at any time. i also had 2 migranes in the same week about 4 months ago, but i thought that was because of stress or pulling my hair back too tight. i had another one a week ago and my hair wasnt pulled back tight, nor was i stressed. do these symptoms sound likely to be a brain tumour? i am only 14, and im off to see the doctor on the 28th of august, but do these symptoms sound like anything else i could have? im not hallucinating the dots, they are always there and they scare me, i get frightened in the night and i often wake up i make myself jump. i also had ONE memory problem, and i often hesitate when i talk to someone as my mind goes blank. please help as i am really hoping its not a tumour.

  1. Well hun i think you problems would have been more severe (not saying yours arent bad cause i mean migranes? Owie) But it does sound serious. Im sure the doctor will be able to tell. Just don't leave out any details k? You will be fine :)

  2. when you go to the doctor please insist on a CT SCAN (catscan) or better yet have them do an MRI this is the only sure way to tell if you have a tumor. im very much older than you but i had SOME of the same symptoms and yes they found a brain tumor in jan 08 and surgery for it feb 08 im doing fine now but just going to the doctor and asking a few questions and having them doing routine exams did not find it  so ask for a CT SCAN or MRI and this way you will no for sure and no more worring. good luck

  3. It really sounds like migraines. There's different types of migraines. What you're experiencing does sound very very similar to them.

  4. im not a doctor but yes get it checked out

  5. Brain tumours are extremely rare, particularly at your age.  If you have had a cluster of migraines then the dots you see maybe due to this.  Classic signs of a tumour are sudden loss of balance, blurred vision, vomiting and slurred speech.  I suffer from migrains and they make my memory go and I find it hard to concentrate - often forgetting what I am about to say!  I sometimes forget what I am going to say without a headache! LOL.

The fact that you have been to the optician is even more reassuring.  They will look at the back of the eye by shining a light into your eye - if you had a tumour, your optic nerve would have pressure on it and they can clearly see this so, you really should relax.

  6. take care of yourself!

go to visit the professional doctor!

  7. no

  8. I am almost positive you do not have a brain tumour.

However, it does sound as though you are suffering from severe eye strain.

You may need to see an optician.
