Brake Light Switch ?

Question

what do the 4 prongs on the brake light switch do? Thinking of swapping bad brake switch with clutch switch( clutch switch only has two prongs) until replacement arrives.

2 or the prongs would activate the brake lights, the other 2 would be to shut off the cruise control when you step on the brakes. check autozone if you have one in your area, unless you are in a rare vehicle they probably have it in stock or can get it usually by the next day, also the clutch switch is a safety device that wont allow the car to start unless the clutch pedal is pushed down, your car probably wouldnt run without it unless you jumped across it. and if it did you would be risking accidentally starting it without the clutch depressed.
