  1. caliper is locking up.Either you have a bad caliper or a collapsed rubber brake line

  2. hydralic fluid is leaking, either from the brake line or past the caliper piston. fix it immediatly, it could be your life

  3. probably a caliper hanging up.

  4. without knowing the make or model of your car it is a little harder.

If the brake is a caliper and rotor then it could be the caliper seizing up, a rusty/ frozen slide pin, a crushed/ faulty rubber brake line, leaky brake line, or if the smokin brake is in the rear it could be a faulty emergency brake cable.

If the smoke is from the rear and is has drum brakes it could be leaky wheel cylinders, broken brake shoe adjuster, broken springs, faulty emergency brake cable.

Just some ideas. Better get it checked out right away.

  5. you have a seized caliper, have it check and repair.good luck
