Brakes squeak on 00 mercedes ml430?

2000 Mercedes ML 430, brakes squeek like crazy when applying and backing but not when I hit them hard only slowing down, just got it out of shop for check-up and said brakes were good?

any spray or quick fixes/

  1. Its caused by vibrations, which are in turn caused by presence of contaminants or production-process residue on the pads or even disc during pad changes (not cleaning pads/discs after handling can leave deposits). At certain speeds (turning), certain frequencies (vibrations) are generated when brakes are applied at certain pedal-pressures. This results in squeals that can be heard as well as squeals that can't be heard by the human ear.

    When changing pads, use the new age pads which contain less or preferably no asbestos material and more or all of kevlar or other advanced material in them. Also, use of deposit-free cleaning agents/processes (like compressed air) during or after handling the parts during the change will help too.


  2. There are some sprays available, they are hit or miss though. Noise is caused by very small vibrations in the pads and calipers. Typically when I install brakes, I apply that goo that dries to a rubbery-type finish, and I've never had a problem with sqeaking. You could remove the pads and apply this type of product on the back side of the pads, then reassemble.  

  3. get them oiled.
