Brambles galore?

I have loads of brambles in my garden When I prune them they seem to grow quicker. What can I do to get rid of them?

  1. Cut them off at ground level and paint them with stump killer. Be careful if you have animals. Cover the area with a large flower pot or something. Be prepared for a long old job.


  2. When you prune something you are encouraging it to grow more vigorously and more bushy. You need to cut the brambles below the crown, (the part just above ground between the stem and the root.

    However, the best way to remove them is to pull them up, root and all. You may get little ones coming back, (from left over bits of root), but if you pull them up as they come, you will eventually eliminate them.

    There are pesticide sprays on the market, if you don't mind nasty chemicals in your garden.

    On the other hand, they may be Blackberry brambles and in a month you could have a nice blackberry and apple crumble!

  3. cut them, use round up and weed killer, bye from garden shop. digg out the roots.
