Branches in my fresh water aquarium?

i have driftwood that i got from a freshwater beach. would i be able to put this into my aquarium? if so how?

  1. I would start by boiling it if for no reason other than sterilization.  This will also help to remove some of the tannins (that will stain the water a light brown).  If you're sure the beach water is clean (no contaminants), I'd go for it, but if you see excessive rotting or the fish appear distressed, remove it immediately.


  2. clean it with lukewarm water around 5 times let it in the water fully submerged for a day,then get it out inspect it carefully,trim any sharp part that may harm your fish,colocated in your tank,if the pH goes down gradually through time,removed and keep cleaning it.

  3. ok so you found some drift wood on the beach yes you can put them into the tank there is just a couple things to do first one soak them in water for about a day to get the salt out of the wood then after you soaked them take them out side and wash them with a hose and let it sit out there for a day and after that day do it one more time and it should be ready to go into your tank
