Brand name catchers equip ment?

If you're elemetary or middle school, you can probably get away with a set of gear if you don't go with the high end gear or a hockey style mask.  If you're adult sized, you'll probably need to up your budget.  I bought some adult gear a couple of years ago to be able to work with the little guys and catch my son and some other pitchers when they get too scary fast to be able to catch without gear.  From memory, here's the breakdown:

Schutt mask (traditional) - $90

Scull cap - $30 ish

Rawlings chest protector - $80 or 90 ish

Rawlings shin guards - Just over a $100

Just make sure you get quality to protect your gourd and neck and your chest protector needs to be tight and smallish, with well fitting shin guards.   You want gear that will protect you, not get in your way.  (The most common mistake made.)
