My son's birthday is today so he got a PS3 80GB/80Go, bundle with Blue Ray Disc. He's had it about 3 days. He is playing a game and there is a black line that continuously goes up the screen. It's not his T.V. The cable television channels are just fine and clear. Does anyone know what the black line is and how to make it disappear?

  1. it might be that the tv doent have a good enough resolution or a setting in the ps3

  2. make sure all the cables are tight, and if that does not work, try another input on the TV.  If another input has the same problem, then it is either a problem with the PS3 or the cable, both of which are covered by the Sony warranty.

  3. Firstly, are you using a HDTV? It's not a problem with your PS3. Rather it is the component cable. When I had a component cable, I used to have a faint line running up the screen. I switched to HDMI and the problem was solved.

If you can't get HDMI, then you are stuck with what you have. It could also be interference from something else, some other cable (analogue interference. HDMI is digital and does not suffer from the same problem).

  4. go to display setting and choose automatic istead of manual setting
