Brand new room for a teen girl

Question

Well, I'm a 14 year old girl, who FINALLY convinced her mom to let her redecorate her room. But I can't figure out what to do! I can't change my furniture, but I have a queen sized tan sleigh bed with matching dresser and 2 end tables. I want something new and fresh. I also get to paint.

any ideas on home to make it great? :)

Since you are a teenager, I suggest the Seventeen and Cosmo Girl brands. They have pretty bedspreads. I used to have one when I was a teenager and loved it! Also, I used to like Hello Kitty. They have cute stuff that looks good with the Seventeen and Cosmo Girl brands. Oh, and for the colors, I think that teal and pink blend well together. Also, black, white, and pink are cute.

Make it great by going with what you like. Start by looking in mags and online. Does "can't change furniture" mean nothing new or can't paint? If you can't touch the furniture, start by just changing k***s, hinges. Add filigrees to the doors/drawers to add color or definition (check out craft stores for ideas). Colors? That needs to be your choice - what is YOU? Are you a pink gal or an earthy green gal? Do colors in your favorite team colors, a fav piece of artwork/poster, etc. Choose one color and make it a focal point on one wall. Put the bed in front of it then choose a second color (see a colorwheel at the paint store for complimentary, contrasting, etc.) Choose your fabrics with these colors in mind. If it helps, find a theme and keep accessories going with that (like beachy stuff, sunflowers or whatever). Good Luck, LT

You could probably paint your furniture to update the room. Get new curtains, maybe a cool rug, or pictures on the walls? You could get a new bedspread and sheets, and DEFINITELY paint the walls. Maybe a new light fixture. A new lamp, or orginizational thing would be good.

www.ikea.com is an excellent store thats has some cheap stuff. I am trying to redo my room and am looking on there.

Def. Use the hot pink with a real pretty white trim. You could add some black or white into that room to.

You could also do tons of throw pillows on your bed and they are good on the floor too. You could buy ones like this

But I just made mine myself they are not to hard at all. Just go to the fabric store and pick out a light weight cotton and get some pillow forms and matching thread. That's all you need!

What about a big fuzzy white or black bean bag?This one is really expensive but I bet you can find one for much cheaper. I really like that idea.

I have a cool butterfly chair from JCPenny if you like that type, I got it for Christmas but they might still carry it. Mine is Purple but I no they had it in Pink.

Or you could just buy a cheapy cork board and cut it into any shapy you wanted.

This might work in your room, I got cheap frames from Target and printed off pictures of my friends and family and pets in black and white and hung them all on one wall. I love it!

Not sure if that is the kind if thing you wanted but it's an idea. I am also redoing my room.

I am doing black and white and I might do Red or purple with that. I am painting my walls white, but the trim and chair rail are going to be black. I have one small wall and that wall I am going to do black, and i am going to frame black and white pictures of my friends. I have a desk I want to paint black. Also above my desk I am painting a whiteboard with whiteboard paint and framing it in black paint. I want to use those like block letters (wooden?) in black and write my name above the whiteboard. In the middle of one wall I have a corkboard that I am going to paint white and frame in black, but the rest of that wall will be white. At the bottom of my room, all around the room I want to do like a city skyline with black paint. Just a simple one with rectangles. One one wall I want to write my fav. quotes and song lyrics. and above my door in red paint I want to write either "Live, Laugh, Love" or "Faith, Family, Friends"

There are also a few sights you may want to look at to get an idea of what you really want.... Just search around it may spark and idea. You really want this room to be yours so take your time.

There are also some stores that carry stuff for your room... Urban Outfitters, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Deliahs (Target etc. 2) I know do and I bet there are more out there.
