Branden Grace aims his fifth victory of the season at the DP World Tour Championship
Branden Grace has set his sights on winning the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, in a bid to end his glorious 2012 campaign on a high note.
The tournament is being played at the Jumeirah Golf Estates, featuring only the top-60 players in The Race to Dubai.
Just 12 months ago, the South African was preparing himself to participate in The European Tour Qualifying School.
This week, he has a different target in front of him. He currently ranks sixth in the European Tour’s money list and is in prime position to take a substantial share of the $3,750,000 bonus pool.
The 24-year-old marked a strong start to his 2012 campaign by winning the Joburg Open and the Volvo Golf Champions in two weeks.
In April, he added another title to his resume by winning the Volvo China Open, followed by another victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October.
After his victory in Scotland, he became the first player in the history of the game to record four victories in the very next year after graduating from the qualifying school.
In addition to that, he also became the only player in the history to record his first four victories in one year. He now plans to stretch the record to five victories, by recording a win at the Jumeirah Golf Estates.
“This time last year, heading to Tour School, seems so far away now but obviously it's just something that's just a year ago,” he said.
“Just trying to get back to where I thought I belong and grinding it out and things like that, and it's a year later and look at what's happened so far”.
He added, “It's been a great year. One thing led to another, and I think after I got the confidence and the things and all the experience from the first win, everything else just jumped into place and everything just happened”.
Talking to the European Tour’s official website, he also revealed that he was relocated to Dubai earlier this year and expressed his intentions to contend strongly against the other 59 players participating in the event.
