Branden Grace looks to make winning hat-trick at the Volvo World Match Play Championship
Branden Grace desires to record the third win of Volvo title in the current season by winning the upcoming Volvo World Match Play Championship.
The 23-year-old South African is in the field of the mega event, being staged by the European Tour at the sensational venue, Finca Cortesin, Casares in Andalucía, Spain.
Since January, Grace has amazed all his fans and other golf players. He won three European Tour titles in the current year and recorded impressive wins at the Joburg Open, Volvo Golf Champions in January and Volvo China Open in April.
Similarly, the upcoming Volvo World Match Play Championship is being staged from May 17 to 20, 2012. This will be the third Volvo event and Grace is hopeful to make a hat-trick in Spain.
“It is tough to qualify for such an elite field so I am delighted to have won my place in the Volvo World Match Play field for next month,” Grace said.
“I am hitting the ball really well and the confidence is coming so I am looking forward to playing at Finca Cortesín very much. As everyone knows, I love match play and even more, I love playing in Spain in front of my home fans, so I think this will be
a great week for me”.
Grace scored a 17-under 270 at the Joburg Open and won by a one-stroke margin. He won the title of the Volvo Golf Champions, scoring a 12-under 280 and defeated Ernie Els and Retief Goosen in the playoff mode.
Similarly, he impressed all the spectators at the Volvo China Open for recording a 21-under 267. He won the title by three strokes margin and became the most popular golf player of the current season.
This will be the first time, in the history of Grace’s career that he can hope for a hat-trick. He is confident and seeking the title desperately.
However, a victory this time will not be that easy. The defending champion, Ian Poulter, is also gearing up for the four-day tournament.
Similarly, Darren Clarke, Justin Rose, Martin Kaymer, Retief Goosn, Peter Hanson and Paul Lawrie are also joining the field of the Volvo World Match Play Championship. Grace is likely to face a tough battle in Spain and only consistent score can help him.
