Branden Grace wins his third European Tour title in China
Branden Grace won the title of the Volvo China Open, as he shot a 3-under 69 in the final round on Sunday, April 22, 2012.
The 23-year-old South African professional golf player amazed the spectators by winning the third European Tour-staged event at the Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin, China.
He started the tournament on Thursday and scored a 5-under 67. Then he picked up pace and again shot a -5 in the second round on Friday.
In the third round, he delivered his best performance, as he scored an 8-under 64 and secured the top leaderboard position against the others.
On Sunday, he added a -3 score and won the title with a three-stroke lead against the Belgium native, Nicolas Colsaerts. Grace shot only one bogey in the final round and scored 21 tremendous brides in the four-day tournament.
"I stayed really calm even after the bogey," Grace said. "I think the experience of earlier this year really helped me a lot".
He added, “I kept hitting the ball well. I missed a couple of shots the first couple of holes but regrouped well and made the birdies where it counts on the par fives, and just stayed with it from there”.
Grace is also happy to record the third amazing win of the European Tour-staged event in the current year. He started the season from the Africa Open and won the title of the Joburg Open by scoring a decent -17.
Later on, he played the Volvo Golf Champions and titled the second victory easily by making a 12-under 280. He has displayed amazing performances since January, and he now has claimed the honour of winning three titles in the current season.
"To have won three now, before May, is unbelievable," Grace, the current 66 ranked player, said on Sunday. "Now I want to win every weekend".
The runner-up Colsaerts also played and competed well in China. He scored an 18-under 270, as he finished three strokes behind the leader.
He also displayed a bogey-free round and scored six birdies on Saturday. He was aiming the title, but Grace's enormous scoring took him to the top and Colsaerts finished behind him.
There are many tournaments being staged in the current year. Colsaerts still has a chance to become a proud winner in the near future, whereas Grace is also motivated to record some more victories in 2012.
