Brandon Bass drawing interests from six teams, besides the Boston Celtics – NBA Update
Brandon Bass was one of the key ingredients of the Boston Celtics team which made it all the way to Eastern Conference Finals despite their limitations this season.
His performances during last season, especially in the playoffs, impressed all and now that he is a free agent, intriguing offers are flowing from various teams in the NBA.
The power forward has been linked to interesting offers from six other teams besides the Celtics and given the interest for his signature, his price may yet see a significant rise.
In the past several days, Tony Dutt, Bass`s official representative has been in talks with the Celtics management and has let them know that the interest in his player is growing strongly.
“We had a great conversation and we’ll continue to talk,” said Dutt
The Celtics reported have a mid level exception offer,
of around $6 million, at the table for Bass which according to Dutt is not the right amount for his talents.
However he was also very recpetive of the Celtics position. The franchise is preparing for next season with just around a total of $20 million in their hand, after the recent re-signing of Kevin Garnett.
“Everything was very positive. We understand that they care about him, but we have to look at all of our options. It’s our job to look at everything and make good decisions.”
Considering the limitations Boston face at the moment, monetarily, they are not expected to offer anything more to Bass then the mid-level exception.
By bringing back Garnett and acquiring Fab Melo and Jared Sullinger on draft night, they are looking at limited options to bring in any other players at the forward position. However, there can be no doubt that if Bass returns
back to Boston for Celtics, he would most certainly be bringing in a lot of firepower.
Nevertheless there is still a possibility that the Celtics look to take a different direction for next season and make the most of a sign and trade deal in to bring more flexibility to their cap space.
