Brandon Belt makes impressive first start for San Francisco Giants – MLB News
Brandon Belt has put in an amazing performance for the San Francisco Giants over the past few days in the spring workout sessions. His brilliant efforts have impressed many in the Giants’ organisation and a possible position as starter is not farfetched.
It looks as if the Giants may include Belt in their Opening Day line-up due to his good consistent performances that he has shown in the spring session.
"Obviously I have a little bit more confidence now," Belt said. "The past few games I was coming in late, getting an at-bat a game. I was probably pressing a little bit because I wanted to get that first hit. But today I could kind of relax a little bit
more and just do my thing, since I knew I was going to have a couple of at-bats. Now I just have to be consistent with that."
Belt has proven to be quite a competitor as he is really showing his true worth to the Giants in a bid to become a starter for the team. The Giants seem to be pleased with his efforts and are watching him closely.
Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy is very pleased by the performance of Belt. "It was a matter of time before he got settled in," Bochy said.
Belt is considered by many to be one of the most talented young prospects in Major League Baseball. It looks as if he is proving that true as he is putting up good numbers consistently for the Giants.
Although Belt has some very impressive numbers in Triple-A, the Major Leagues are a different scenario all together. The competition is much fiercer and it can usually take some time for the younger players to get used to this level of competitiveness. However,
Belt does not seem to be fazed by the specter of the big leagues and his showing everyone his true potential as a tremendous baseball player.
The Giants will be looking to have a decent spring session and a positive beginning to their regular season. The team is defending their World Series title and they are fully aware that all the other top tier teams will be coming after them early in the
season. However, the Giants are a very talented team with some great depth in their line-up and have the potential to take on any team in MLB.
It will be interesting to see how well Belt can perform for the Giants during the opening of the regular season. His amazing talent should provide some impetus that the team will be looking for as they start the regular season in style.
