Brandon Inge makes headlines once more – MLB Detroit Tigers News
Detroit Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland has placed Brandon Inge on a 15 day disabled list ahead of 2012 regular season. According to a leading sports website, Inge suffered an injury in a spring season game on Thursday last week.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the right handed striker is one of the most talked about players in Tigers’ line up since the start of the season. Inge does not mind speaking his heart. If he is bothered by something, he will come out to let everyone know.
The former third baseman has been making headlines for the past few months. After Tiger signed Prince Fielder on a nine year $214 million contract earlier this year, Inge had to switch to second base to keep his place on Tigers roster. Hard hitting Cabrera also moved to third base to accommodate Fielder at first base.
"There's not a spot on the field you can't put me," Inge said. "I can play short, I can play second, I can play third. Anywhere you want to put me, I can play."
"There's nothing I could do about any of it," Inge commented on Tigers’ decision.
Following Tigers decision to change his position, Inge expressed his disappointed at the entire situation. Inge would not have been a part of Tigers’ big league roster if General Manager Dave Dombrowski had not put in a word for him. Inge takes pride in what he does. At times, he can be arrogant. However, he plays the game hard as anyone else.
"I actually think Brandon Inge had a pretty decent spring," Leyland said of Inge in an interview."He didn't hit for average, but he hit the ball hard. We made the right decision. That was the smart thing to do. It was a pretty simple decision."
Inge may not be the best hitter in Major League Baseball, his defensive skills has helped the Tigers win several games over the last few years. Although his drama has casted a shadow over Tigers’ opener, he can surely play a key role in leading the Tigers to the World Series victory on his return.
