Brandon Jennings’ 33 leads Milwaukee Bucks over Philadelphia 76ers: NBA Recap
Brandon Jennings dropped 33 points; Monta Ellis added 18 as the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Philadelphia Sixers 105-96 here at the Wells Fargo Center, Monday night. The Bucks are now up 3-0 on the road, their best start to the
season since 2001-2002.
Jrue Holiday led the Sixers with 25 points and 6 assists, going 10 of 18 from the floor and Jason Richardson returned from the injury to add 20 points that also included a stylish 360 degree two hand slam dunk to cap off his own
steal. Dorell Wright scored 14 while Thaddeus Young contributed 11 points and 7 rebounds.
“Our pick-and-roll defense in the fourth quarter was awesome, the best I've ever seen." commented Brandon Jennings as the Bucks grabbed 48 rebounds compared to only 31 by the Sixers.
Sixers, who had been allowing the fewest points scored off the paint in the league coming into this game, were outscored 42-24 from the paint.
Bucks started the game sharply, going up 11-4 early. Two free throws by Tobias Harris took them to 19-12 around the halfway mark, but the Sixers responded with a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 18-19. Few minutes later, a Brandon
Jennings layup put the Bucks up 26-18 before two back to back three pointers by the 76ers cut the Bucks lead to 2. A burst by the Bucks in the closing moments had them leading 34-26 by the end of the period.
The Bucks maintained their advantage for a while and were up 38-31 early in the second period before Sixers fought back and kicked off an 11-4 run to tie the score at 42. Later on, the score was tied at 45 and again on 48. Bucks
then pulled off a 14-2 run that included 10 straight points from Jennings to jump to 62-50 as they went into halftime holding a comfortable 12 point advantage.
It was all Sixers in the third period as they came back hard on the Bucks and started cutting the deficit. Bucks were up 75-59 at one stage before a 9-0 run by the Sixers cut their lead to 75-68. The Sixers kept up the pressure
and Young scored 7 straight points for Sixers as they finished the period with a gutsy 8-0 run to tie the score at 83.
A Spencer Hawes jump shot got the Phillies up by 85-83 at the start of the quarter as they led for the first time after going 2-0 up early in the first frame. Sixers kept the Bucks in check but trailing by one at 94-93, the Bucks
responded with a 9-0 run capped by Dunleavy's shot from downtown as they went up 103-93, and for good. They maintained their advantage till the end, closing the game at 105-96.
