Brandon Jennings shines as Milwaukee Bucks destroy Cleveland Cavaliers 121-84 - NBA Recap
Milwaukee Bucks handed out a crushing defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers 121-84 at the Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH on Friday night.
Milwaukee shot 56.8% from the field getting a season high 121 points in a regular game. Brandon Jennings played a significantly important role in this win as he contributed with 28 points, 6 assist and 4 steals. Kyrie Irving, the
rookie point guard of the Cavaliers had a good game as well going 100% from long range plus getting a game high total of 29 points. However, Irving`s star performance was over shadowed by an injury to his right shoulder in the second period.
Both teams started the game well and it remained a close contest up until there were 8:50 minutes remaining in the first quarter. From there on wards, it was all one way traffic. Behind Ersan Ilyasova`s 14 point first quarter performance,
the Bucks went on to dominate the rest of the proceedings in the first period, closing the quarter with a lead of 9 points (26-35). Irving had 13 points in the first quarter.
If the first quarter was all one way traffic then the second quarter was a high speed ride as the Bucks started the second period off with 20-1 run opening up a 55-27 lead, with a lot of time remaining in the half still. Bucks
were totally dominant for the remainder of the half as they outscored the Cavaliers 36-18 in the second quarter only.
Brandon Jennings had 21 points; Ilyasova had 18 points for the Bucks at the half way stage. Irving on the other hand also had 21 points for the Cavaliers at the half.
The third quarter was against the run of play as the Cavaliers were able to somewhat control the Bucks allowing them to score only 28 points while managing 30 by themselves. But, the score line was telling the story of a demolition
job already done by the visiting team - Bucks led by as much as 37 points at one point during the game.
In a game that was in no sense of the word a competition between the two teams, Cavaliers were under the scrutiny from their home crowd as they were constantly being booed by their fans who were really disappointed with their team’s
performance.
Irving was the only player that looked like who could do some damage to the Bucks but with no help from his team mate`s his 29 points after three quarters were of no use.
In the last quarter of the match which the Cavaliers had already lost, Bucks outscored the home team by 22-10 which was a season low for the Cavaliers in the fourth quarter. However, the key to such an astounding performance was
bench-scoring as the Milwaukee bench outscored the Cavaliers bench 43-10.
Jennings had 28; Ilyasova had 20 while Mike Dunleavy had 16 for Milwaukee to end the game. Along with impressive shooting from the field, the Bucks also shot very well from long range, 62.5% which included a run of 8 straight 3
pointers made in the first half.
