Brandon Jennings stars as Milwaukee Bucks hang tough to beat Minnesota Timberwolves 98 – 95: NBA
The Milwaukee Bucks left it late to record a sharp win over the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Bradley Center. Leading by double figures midway through the game, the Bucks wilted under pressure late and needed a big play from rookie
Jon Leuer right at the death to defeat the T-Wolves 98 – 95.
They were lead by point guard Brandon Jennings who notched up team high 24 points to go along with 7 assists.  Stephen Jackson, the newly acquired shooting guard, added 16 points while centre Andrew Bogut put up solid numbers with
15 points and 9 rebounds.
The Timberwolves relied on star power forward Kevin Love to fuel their effort. Love picked up the mantle and produced a tremendous 31 points, game high, and 20 rebounds, also a game high, effort. Luke Ridnour, 17 points, and Michael
Beasley, 15 points, complemented his double-double which ultimately proved to be insufficient.
The game got off to a flying start in the first quarter with both teams going for the jugular and the defences almost looked abandoned. A total of 62 points were scored in the period where scores remained close throughout and ended
up at 32 – 30 to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Bucks though seemed bent on getting their way and used a 14 – 3 run in the second quarter to put daylight between themselves and Minnesota. The Timberwolves trailed by double figures at the interval with the score at 60 – 48.
Minnesota didn’t show too much urgency coming out of the break either and for the most part in the third quarter Milwaukee Bucks remained in the ascendency. When the quarter ended at 79 – 68, the status quo was pretty much intact
going in the final period.
The Timberwolves finally looked like waking up and put together a furious charge in the last quarter. With just over 3 minutes left on the clock and Milwaukee still leading by double digits, the Timberwolves scored 8 without reply
to set up a nervous end to the match, the score 94 – 92 and just over a minute to play.
Rookie Leuer though made a big three point play just at the right time that knocked the wind out of Minnesota’s sails, and the Bucks safely anchored home at 98 – 95.
