Brandon Jennings takes Milwaukee Bucks to a 91-82 win over Miami Heat – NBA Recap
On a spectacularly cold shooting night, the Milwaukee Bucks took advantage of a tired Miami Heat and nipped their three game winning streak with a 91-82 decision.
The Bucks, who shot only 35 percent from the floor, were led by their point guard Brandon Jennings, who came into the game with a 9 of 18 shooting record from the long range in the last three games. He only managed 1 of 10 on the
night, but led his team with 23 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds and two steals.
Ersan Ilyasova came off the bench for 16; Andrew Bogut had 13 points and 8 boards while Stephen Jackson and Shaun Livingston added 10 apiece.
Miami playing without Dwyane Wade, who was out due to a sore right ankle, just couldn’t spread the floor on the night. LeBron James led them with 28 points and 13 rebounds, but managed only 5 assists.
"We can't make no excuses for ourselves," James said after the game. "But no one had energy from the start of the game to the end."
With LeBron not in his groove, the Heat managed a season low 9 dimes, committing 22 turnovers all the while. 8 of those turnovers came from Chris Bosh, who finished the game with 23 points as Miami lost their first game in the
total seven they have played without Wade this year.
Mario Chalmers also had a shocker of a game with a 4 of 14 shooting. He managed 12 points, but also committed 6 turnovers for Miami, who shot 37.5 of their field shots.
Miami had the better start to the game and after the scores were tied twice midway through the first quarter, the Heat raced off to an 11-4 run late, to snatch a 21-16 lead, only to be slashed by two by a Mike Dunleavy layup.
Miami maintained their dominance early in the second, but then the wheel started to come off. The Heat started missing shots from the floor, allowing to Bucks to close in and the visitors eventually took the lead with a 9-2 run.
James erupted with 8 consecutive points in the ensuing passage, but the Bucks responded swiftly with a 7-0 run and went into the break with a 46-41 advantage.
Miami came back strongly in the second half and started the third frame on a 10-5 run to reverse the lead. The Heat were leading by 63-62 with 13.4 seconds left in the final frame, but two three’s by Stephen Jackson on either side
of the buzzer, again put the Bucks in the driver’s seat.
Miami stayed within the striking range in the first four minutes, but then a 10-4 run followed. The host bounced back again though and two Bosh free throws with 2:15 left on the clock made it 83-80.
That was however the closest Miami got on the night as the Bucks pulled with 8 unanswered points after that to seal the game.
