Brandon Knight has a career night as Detroit Pistons crush Cleveland Cavaliers 116-77: NBA Recap
On Tuesday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Detroit, MI, the Detroit Pistons gave a schooling lesson to the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers, crushed them with a score line off 116-77.
The huge margin of 39 points was the highest difference for the Pistons this season, their previous highest of 24 coming against the Charlotte Bobcats on April 12th.
Brandon Knight had a career high night in scoring as he finished the game with 28 points. He also had 7 assists to his name. Centre, Greg Monroe ended the game with 12 points while also grabbing 13 rebounds. This is the 29th time this season; he has ended the game with double-double statistics.
Tayshaun Prince contributed 15 points and Jason Maxiell added 11 points. Pistons also had two other players, both from the bench, in double scoring figures. Jonas Jerebko scored 14 and Charlie Villanueva had10 points.
Manny Harris was the leading scorer for the Cavs with 18 points. Tristan Thompson ended the game with 12 points, Omri Casspi finished the game with 11 and Anthony Parker ended up with 10.
Detroit out-rebounded the Cavs 41-34. They also bossed their way around inside the paint, scoring 42 points as compared by the Cavs 28. Detroit also ran the transition game very well throughout the night putting up 25 fast break points in the game.
Another key factor in winning this with a huge margin was the overall distribution of the ball. The Pistons were unselfish throughout the night as good shots were passed up to make better shots. They ended the game with 28 assists.
Pistons came out running in this one as they stomped their authority from the get go. They raced to a 10-3 lead and never looked back for the entire game. By the end of the first 12 minutes, Pistons were ahead by 11 points.
For the next two quarters, Pistons lifted the intensity up on both ends of the court. They outscored the visitors 73-34 in the second and third quarter and were ahead by a huge margin of 50 points, 100-50, before going into the fourth.
In the final quarter, Cavs were able to pick up the slack as they outscored the Pistons 27-16 but the ample advantage of the hosts was insurmountable in the end. This loss for the Cavs tied their worst defeat of the season which came against the Chicago Bulls on January 20th. Cavs lost that one by the same difference of 39.
