Brandon Knight suffering from Plantar Fasciitis, stalls pre-season training – NBA News
As the Detroit Pistons look towards next season, their eyes are on sophomore point guard Brandon Knight. He is considered as the future leader of the Pistons team, and the coaching staff is at work on him to develop him into the
star he has the potential to become. Allthough Knight has been diligently putting in the work in preparation of next season and is anxiously waiting to show all that he has learnt over the summer, he has been slowed down by a small injury.
Knight is suffering from a mild case of Plantar Fasciitis, according to the team website Pistons.com. It is an inflammation of the tissue connecting to the foot. Although the injury has been diagnosed at an early stage and Knight
is not at risk of missing the season opener for the Pistons, he is not working out at the moment.
“Arnie wants me to take it slow. Me, I'm trying to get out there now. But as soon as I get out there and start doing something, he's ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa’.I can get up and down now, but Arnie wants me to take it slow. Next week, hopefully,
I can test it out and see how it feels. It should be fine by next week. He's just being careful with it to make sure it's nothing that crops up during the season,” said Knight talking about his injury and the recovery from it.
Plantar Fasciitis is not a very serious injury but once suffered, it takes a long time to heal. Knight is lucky that he has been diagnosed early on, but the injury will take some time to heal and although he can play in games,
Knight will continue to suffer from a nagging pain that is typical of a plantar fasciitis injury.
The young one guard could be back this week, or he could be back in a few weeks time. It all depends on how fast he recovers.
The Pistons do not want to bring him back too quickly, since there is no reason to warrant a quick comeback. The regular season is still almost two months away, meaning that Knight has time to fully recover from the injury before
he takes to court.
