Brandon Lee Rios to defend WBA title against Urbano Antillon – Boxing news
The undefeated Mexican-American professional boxer, Brandon Lee Rios will be defending his WBA Lightweight title against the former WBO, NABO and NABF Super Featherweight Champion, Urbano Antillon in a 12-round bout on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Home
Depot Centre in Carson, California.
This co-featured main event is promoted by Top Rank promotional company which headlines another fight in which the former IBF Welterweight titlist Kermit Cintron will be competing Carlos Molina of Mexico in their 10-round Junior Middleweight bout.
There has been a lot of exchange of words between Brandon Rios and Urbano Antillon before their competition. The two fighters who do not like each other came face to face for Media Workout on Tuesday at the Fortune Gym in Los Angeles, California.
Brandon Rios is returning to the ring after winning 9 of his consecutive fights and he is still an undefeated boxing prospect.
Urbano Antillon is coming back to the ring after being defeated by Humberto Soto in December 2010 at the Honda Centre in Anaheim, California. It was the second professional loss of his career.
The 25-year-old Lightweight contender, Brandon Rios while speaking to the press revealed, “I don’t like him. He says he is going to test me and that I’m not ready for what he is going to bring to the table. I hope he tests me, but he had better be bringing
a really big table. If it’s a small table, he is definitely getting knocked out.”
Adding to this the Orthodox stance Brandon ‘Bam Bam’ Rios said, “I feel very good, I’m ready to fight and I’m totally relaxed and focused. This is a great fight for television and the fans. We are both going to be getting after each other.”
The current WBA World Lightweight Champion, Brandon Rios says he worked really very hard to win his belt. The Rios’ trainer Robert Garcia revealed his fighter is working hard to retain his title.
Garcia says Rios is 100 percent fit to take on the Mexican-American professional boxer Urbano Antillon and they are all looking forward to the Saturday night fight very much.
Hopefully, the fight between the two will be interesting to watch as both the fighters are willing to claim this competition.
