Brandon Marshall questionable for Sunday's game
Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall did not practice with the team on Wednesday 24 November. His status for Miami's upcoming game against the Oakland Raiders is in doubt as he struggles to recover from a hamstring injury.
Marshall was unavailable for comments, but if he is unable to play, it will be a major blow to the Dolphins offence, which was shutout in their 16-0 loss to the Chicago Bears last week.
Head coach Tony Sparano also has yet to name a starting quarterback, as both Tyler Thigpen and Chad Henne took snaps during practice. Thigpen played the entire game against the Bears after Henne had picked up an injury the week before when the Dolphins beat
the Tennessee Titans 29-17.
"With Brandon (Marshall) being out, I think that's going to leave a lot more 1-on-1 matchups that we're going to have to win," Sparano told reporters. Although there is yet no official word, Sparano's language seemed to indicate that he did not expect Marshall
to play.
Henne began the season as the Dolphins' starter, but Thigpen, the team's third string quarterback, got the call against Chicago after both Henne and backup quarterback Chad Pennington went down with injuries against Tennessee.
Pennington's career might be over after re-injuring his shoulder, but Henne is hoping to come back sooner rather than later after hurting his knee. "I feel pretty good. I've been rehabbing, and it's been going better each and everyday. I haven't had any
setbacks. Right now, I don't know where it is, but I'm practicing and it's getting better."
If Henne is able to get the start it will certainly give the Dolphins offence a boost, but losing Marshall would be a major setback. The 26-year-old receiver has caught over 100 passes in the last three consecutive seasons and leads the Dolphins in both
receptions and yards this season.
