Brandon Morrow shines as Toronto Blue Jays shutout Chicago White Sox 4-0 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays shutout Chicago White Sox 4-0 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday, June 6 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
The White Sox will be extremely disappointed with their performance in a game that turned out to be completely one sided. They are just one game ahead of Cleveland Indians in the American League Central Division and it will be interesting to see if they
can bounce back in the finale of this series to stay at the top of AL Central standings.
Toronto Blue Jays, on the other hand, continued to show great improvement in their game play as they dominated their opponents in almost all departments of the game. Blue Jays are just two games behind American League East leaders Baltimore Orioles and it
will be exciting to see if they can snatch the first place on the table before the All Star Break.
Credit goes to Brandon Morrow for the way he pitched in a pressure game. His previous start against Baltimore Orioles was a painful one when he took a line drive on his leg.
"It felt fine for a few days. It's just sore to the touch. It doesn't hurt to move. There was no hesitation," Morrow said about his leg.
"There's that chance every time you take the mound. That's not something you think of. If it happens, it happens," he said. "I've been hit a few times."
"It was mainly all fastball, slider. I threw a few changeups to the left-handers, trying to keep them honest," Morrow said. "When I have fastball command down to both sides of the plate, that's when I've been at my best, and that's what I had tonight."
Morrow showed no signs of pain on Wednesday evening as he pitched a two hitter to earn his third shutout win this season. He retired 14 straight at one stage and gave up singles in the second and the eighth to A.J. Pierznyski.
Jose Bautista and Rajai Davis were brilliant in hitting department of the game and the Blue Jays secured a comfortable win to take a decisive 2-0 lead in the series.
