Brandon Pierce’s busy schedule restrains him from working on his short game
St. Paul’s Brandon Pierce has revealed that he did not find much time in the past few weeks to tweak his putting technique, as he heads to participate in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Tommy Moore Memorial Junior Golf Championship.
The two-day tournament is set to feature a total of 78 boys and girls, and will be staged at the Lakewood Golf Club, from December 28 to 29, 2012.
Pierce said that he was continuously working on his short game, until a tough routine hindered in his way of improving his putting technique.
According to him, he was busy in preparing for his fall semester’s final exams. In addition to that, he also moved to a new house, along with his family.
As a result, he was not able to spend much time on the course. Despite the fact that he did not practice much on the greens, he is confident to contend strongly in the event.
Talking to the reporters, he lauded Kelly Gibson Foundation and Sugar Bowl’s commitment to develop the game of golf in the region.
In the meantime, he also praised the way Gіbson and Foundation CEО, Brad White, has worked to support his own foundation, the Brandоn’s Birdies.
According to him, the tournament, in its second year, has received huge success, as a number of players from different regions have confirmed their participation.
A total of eight states, including Alabama, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio and West Virginia, will be represented in the tournament.
“I wouldn’t miss this tournament for anything,” said Pierce, a senior and LSU signee. “Mr. Brad (White) and Mr. Kelly (Gibson) have done so much for me through the years, with my game and other things I’ve done.
He added, “And, even this (tournament) is only in its second year, this is becoming a big event. You have a lot of big tournaments in the South, down in Florida, too, this time of year. I think this one will be right there with them”.
Pierce now plans to remain consistent in both the rounds, in a bid to finish the event on top of the leaderboard.
