Brandon Roy still not allowed to practice

Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy will miss the team’s practice after team doctor Don Roberts failed to provide him with clearance to participate in the team's drills on Monday 22
November.

Roy, who has missed Portland’s last three games since going out in their game against the New Orleans on 13 November, is still bothered by his nagging knee injury, and the all-star guard
is currently undergoing treatment for the sore left knee.

“He doesn’t want me to play on the court until he looks at me again,” said Roy on Dr. Roberts’ recommendation. “And there’s no day set yet. I won’t practice Monday. He said, ‘No,’ for sure.”

The Trail Blazers are currently enjoying a five-day lay-off and Roy could use this for his recovery and play against the New Orleans Hornets on Friday 26 November, but the 26-year-old guard
declined to give any assurance that he would play against the Hornets.

“Nah, I won’t even say that,” said Roy when he was asked about the possibility of returning on Friday. “I’m just targeting that meeting with Dr. Roberts first and hoping that goes good. Then
I want to give myself some practice time before that game.”

Roy also added that he is feeling a lot better since limping out in the game against the Hornets. The former Washington standout added that the treatment is slowly removing the swelling around
his knee, but he cannot still give a timetable until he is able to gauge himself on practices.

Without Roy, the Trail Blazers posted two-straight wins over the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets, before dropping their last game against the Utah Jazz, 103-94, on Saturday 20 November.

Reserve guard Wesley Matthews took over Roy’s role in their last three games, and the 24-year-old and Marquette standout had three-straight outstanding performances.

Matthews, who was acquired by Portland as a free agent during the off-season, averaged 22 points per game, highlighted by a 30-point performance against the Memphis Grizzlies.
