Former All Star says he feels much better with his fitness and is working hard with Wolves coaching staff to be ready for the upcoming season.

Brandon Roy has been training hard for the upcoming NBA season, and says that he feels better than he has done in years with respect to his health and fitness. Roy joins a young and talented roster in the Minnesota Timberwolves
next season, and with 2 weeks left till training camp opens, he is already working with the Wolves coaching staff to get himself ready for the long NBA season that lies ahead.
Roy suffered with knee problems over the past few seasons, and the Portland Trail Blazers used their amnesty clause on him at the end of the 2010-2011 season. He retired from the game after that, and sat out the last season. However,
after feeling considerably better over the course of the year, Roy decided to give his NBA career one more chance and the Wolves gave the former All Star a two year contract.
“This is the best I've felt in a long time. The reason why I say that is I'm able to improve. I'm able to come in the gym and work on my game and get better. Where I felt that the last couple years in Portland, I was just doing
my best to maintain. That's the biggest thing I'm excited about is I'm in the gym,” said Roy on Thursday about his health.
Roy has been in Minnesota since the start of September as he wanted to get his son enrolled in school. Since then, he has been training and working hard on his body as well as his game.
“I set a plan for myself going into the season and so far I haven't had any setbacks," Roy added.
Roy has been working with the team’s conditioning staff, as well as David Adelman as they look to get him ready for the season, while at the same time ensuring that he does not push too hard so as to be at risk of injury again.
This is a balancing act that the Wolves know they will have to do throughout the season, but considering the commitment and professionalism he is bringing to this young team, they are more than happy to work with him.
"With Brandon, it's just a healthy attitude where he wants to see how much he can push himself to that limit before we have to shut him down and be smart about it," said Wolves assistant coach Shawn Respert.
The Wolves made some good roster additions in the off-season, with the signing of Russian veteran Andrei Kirilenko and rising guard Alexey Shved. And with Roy improving his fitness every day, the Wolves will be an exciting team
to watch this coming season. This might just be the year they are able to qualify for the playoffs.
