Brandon Tate leads Cincinnati Bengals young receivers crop in preseason opener – NFL News
Wide receiver Brandon Tate is on top of depth chart after training camp as Cincinnati Bengals’ young receivers’ crop faces the visiting New York Jets for the preseason opener at Paul Brown stadium this Friday.
Brandon competed with teammate WR Armon Binns who himself has been through a development process similar to the one that Tate had, which allowed both players to build a strong bond of friendship between them.
Tate says of the experience:
"We were with each other with the `look' team against the defence, so we were always hyping each other up, trying to make plays. It was kind of the same deal. But this time, it's for real."
Bengals are heading into this season with a group of inexperienced receivers. In addition to Brandon and Armon, Andrew Hawkins is another young receiver who is leading the group at backup position.
Hawkins says:
"I don't know if there's one big thing I've tried to improve on. It's little things, like noticing the coverage earlier, getting on the same page with the quarterback.”
The group has developed into the receivers force itself, and is ready to face its first real challenge against Jets. Bengals for the first time in their franchise history had organised training camp at their local ground, Paul Brown stadium,
where the preseason is scheduled to be held.
It is to be seen how receivers perform in the game. Their form nevertheless is important for Bengals win and the team is hopeful of a better run by the group.
Bengals is amongst top three teams in the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. They made it to the playoffs along with the divisional rivals Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens last year.
Their loss in the playoffs was rather surprising; they were ousted by the playoff newbies Houston Texans. This marked the end of the season for Bengals on the disappointing note.
The particular plus point of the team during the last season was the ability to rebound strongly in the second rounds of all their games. This is reflective in the fact that a majority of victories for them came as a result of their superb
performance in second half.
