  1. Many fighters don't want to fight him at all. I don't blame them either. He dosn't fight like anybody else in the UFC.

He has a semi-orthodox fighting style. As a karate practitioner(Shotokan Karate), Machida uses a southpaw stance. He is extremely patient and waits for the right moment to go in for the kill.

Some people find it boring but it is kind of nice to see someone fight with a different smart style.

Even though some fighters don't want to fight him he is highly respected by the best in MMA.

He used to fight out of BLACK HOUSE with close friends Anderson Silva and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

Also, im not sure if wanderlie silva turned down a fight or not but machida was there to support silva after his fight at UFC 79. So, If he did turn the fight down it could be because of friendship. Link is below.

  2. I actually think Lyoto is overrated, but I think some fighters are scared of him.  But, a lot of fighters turn down fights for all sorts of reasons.

  3. I  heard Wanderlei Silva also turned down a fight with Lyoto...Lyoto is a beast and is very underrated.  The only person that could possibly beat him is Anderson Silva.
