  3. read the label.  it should say somewhere if it doesn't test on animals.  if it doesn't say anything, just take a quick peek on their website.

  4. Brands that test are pretty much all drugstore brands, except Physician's Formula. Yeah, even L'oreal, which was kind of surprising. It's the high end and specialty makeup that dont test on animals, like NARS and Sephora.  

  5. I am quite sure almost all of them do.  If they don't advertise that they are against animal testing, you can assume they do.  I know Johnson & Johnson (despite their recent environmentally friendly efforts) is a big contributor to animal testing.

    EDIT: To my knowledge, The Body Shop does not do any animal testing, and sells bath, body, and makeup products for men, women, and children.  They also support fair trade and combat domestic violence.
