I saw this guy smile when he missed a putt I saw him joke with his caddy when he drops a ball into the water and shake his head and smile .... The fact that he shed a tear after a disapointing day at the masters final round comming in 3rd just finishes it for me ...THIS GUY IMPRESSED ME!!!

Good attitude is an understatement...fast play is a secondary attribute which makes a ton of people happy ... whats so bad about brandt ... This week NOTHIN >> he shined ...

  1. NO WAY ,,,,,,,happiest player in GOLF is Fred Couples ~!

but i like your point ~!

  2. He may have appeared to be happy on the outside but I guarantee you this guy was crying on the inside Sunday. His smile was just a cover for the pain he was feeling. He wanted that win real bad and also felt he had a good chance of winning.

  3. I agree 100%.  I was at the Masters this past week, and I really enjoyed watching the Nashville native.  He has such a great attitude and dimeanor.  That will go a long way in this sport with your performance and the fans.  I believe he shot 77, but he acted like he shot 68.  He reminded me of amatuer Matt Kuchar in the 1998 Masters and U.S. Open.  Nothing could get the smile off his face; he was just happy to be there.

  4. he looks like he had a couple of drinks prior to the game

  5. There is no way he is the happiest player on the PGA tour after his performance on Sunday during the Masters. During the post-match conference he was crying uncontrolably. He does though have the best attitude on the course but he is still a golfer and is sad when he loses.

  6. Brandt was overcome with emotions as any young guy might when he realizes that had he just shot par on his last round, he would have won by one stroke.... He seems to be a REALLY good guy - very, very, well grounded, still a 'hometwon' boy, but is out on the big stage.  Maybe he needs to toughen up, but possibly not.  This week was certainly a schooling for him as he learned that this course is one tough one to do well when the competition committee doesn't want you to.

In all of his light-heartedness, you have others like Tiger on the other side with non-stop intensity.  If Brandt becomes a great player it will be interesting to see how the different styles match up over time.

  7. I like the young fellow to, but I think he was pressing with this behavior.  What I mean is that there was alot of pressure on him for sure, and I think he was going above and beyond to "look Relaxed,"  when inside he was really scared to death.  Alot of the laughs and shaking his head were ways to deal with his nervousness.  I was there on Sat and Sun and watched him some, he wouldn't shut up when he was walking down the fairway (seems nervous).  He played it off really well, with the relaxed persona he put on on the golf course, but at the end I think it all built up in him, which is why he was overcome in the press interview.   Its just an opinion, but I think he was bottling every fear in him though the last two days and dealing with it by acting carefree.

With all that being said, I do like the young man, and enjoyed his play, I think he will contend for several years to come, and I think he will learn to deal with this kind of pressure better.

To answer your question I definitly do not hink he is the happiest player on tour,  I would give that honor to Trevor Immalmen right now,  He just won, but even bigger is that less than four months ago he found out he did not have cancer, only a benign toumor.   That would make any of us happy, not withstanding a green jacket victory.
