Brandt Snedeker aims number one spot next season
It has been a phenomenal year for Brandt Snedeker, wining two trophies, including the lucrative FedEx Cup trophy.
Snedeker has been performing more or less consistently this season on the tour. The American not only made a move in the Official World Golf Rankings but also made his debut in the US Ryder Cup team, in Medinah.
At the start of the season, Snedeker was ranked 38th but now with the season almost closing, he is ranked 10th in the world.
Climbing 28 places in one season is huge asks for a player who is not that experienced.
Among the 20 events that he made cut in, this season, he finished under-ten seven times. This shows the consistency with which he has been playing.
Missing just two cuts on the PGA Tour, along with a T3 finish at the Open Championship, is a major achievement for Snedeker.
2012 World Challenge will be American’s last outing of the season and he is aiming for a decent finish at Sherwood Golf and Country Club.
However, more than that, Brandt has his one eye set on the next season. He has vowed to be the best in the world by claiming the number one spot.
Although he knows it will not be easy, he is up for the challenge. "It's very doable," the ever-smiling Snedeker told the reporters.
"Look where I jumped from in the world rankings this year, getting to where I am now. Having another year like this year next year and I can really get up there. To get to No. 1 in the world you've got to be more consistent. You look at the way (top-ranked)
Rory (McIlroy) is playing right now”.
"He is not only winning but he is giving himself a chance to win almost every week, and that is huge. That's what you have to do to be No. 1 in the world".
If Snedeker can improve on this season’s performance, then there is certainly a chance for him to claim the number one spot in the world. His putting would be the key once again next season.
