Brandt Snedeker scores 64 to win the Heritage tournament – Golf news
Brandt Snedeker smashed a score of 7-under par, 64 in the final round of the Heritage tournament to win his second PGA Tour trophy.
With this win, Snedeker banked $1.06 million along with 500 FedEx points.
The 30-year-old American teed off from the front-nine on Sunday and compiled the lowest score of the day to join Luke Donald at the top. He picked six birdies on the front-nine starting from the second hole, where he rolled a 20-feet long birdie putt to
claim his first point. The crowd clapped at the success of the player and watched him roll another on the immediate hole.
After a gap of one green, Snedeker picked up one more point after he drove his tee shot towards the fairway and hit a 5-iron from the right side to add another birdie to his scorecard. Pleased at his accuracy, Snedeker shared a high-five with his caddie
and resumed his walk towards the tee of par-3 seventh hole to add more birdies to his achievements.
Without wasting much time, the American wrapped the front-nine with another point and stepped into the back-nine with a score of 12-under par.
On his way to the back-nine, the winner sandwiched a bogey between two birdies on the 13th hole and dropped one more shot to fall one point behind Luke Donald. For the crowd, this was the end for Snedeker, but he had other plans.
He smashed a 3-wood on the par-4 18th to reach the green in two shots and rolled a birdie to push into a play-off match.
In the struggle not to lose his cool, the player birdied the first play-off hole and par-equalled the next two to kick Donald out of contention and to take a hold onto the winner’s trophy.
Pleased at his success, Snedeker took a bow at the crowd and said, “Went out on the front nine and shot 30 and before I knew it I was right in the middle of it. So it was a lot of fun to go onto the back nine, knowing I had to some make birdies in order
to get back into contention and I did it.”
