Brandt Snedeker shoots equal par at RBC Heritage first round, seeks to regain glory
Brandt Snedeker shot an equal par score, standing tied for the 24th position in the first round of the RBC Heritage, on Thursday.
The 31-year-old American professional golf player was the winner of the PGA Tour staged event held in 2011, at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Before last years’ Heritage, his wife gave birth to a baby girl on March 3, 2011. He was very happy to about it and shared that the birth of a daughter changed his entire life.
"My life is completely different," Snedeker said. "I used to live and die by the way I played golf. My attitude was based on the way I was playing. If I played good, I was a fun guy to be around. If I played bad, no person wanted to be around me. I let bad
golf drive me crazy. But then she was born".
"People who know me will tell you that because of her, I practice smarter," said Snedeker. "I think I used to practice myself into slumps. Before her, I beat balls all day because I thought that's how I'd get better. And it's not. You get better by making
your practice count, and by getting away and relaxing and having some fun".
Last year, he scored a 12-under 272 and tied with the current number one golfer, Luke Donald. Snedeker defeated Donald in a playoff mode by making an early birdie on the second hole.
Snedeker played well throughout the four-day tournament and now he is defending the title. He displayed a slow start in the first round and made two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine holes of the course.
Similarly, he continued with the slow pace and scored one birdie and a bogey on the back nine holes. He failed to finish the round under par and held a T25 position.
He is four strokes behind the leading position and is hoping to do a better job on Friday. He has high aims this year and desires to win for his daughter.
There are ample chances for the American to score well at the Harbour Town Golf Links.
However, if he competes well from Friday onwards, then he can lead, else he will have to lose his Heritage glory.
