Brandt Snedeker stays with what works on the greens
Brandt Snedeker had a wonderful season this year. He has made it in the Ryder Cup. He has a decent chance to land in his first FedEx Cup title at East Lake and more importantly, he has done well at the majors too.
Although he missed the cut at Kiawah, but his performance in the British Open was something to be proud of.
Currently ranked 5th on the FedEx Cup standings, if he plays the way he played at the Royal Lytham, then surely, he will win at East Lake.
The highlight of Snedeker’s season has been his putting. His control and precision has been just magnificent. It is this skill that forced Davis Love III to pick him for the Ryder Cup.
Davis needed players who were in form but more importantly, he chose players who were outstanding with putters.
However, there is one interesting thing about Snedeker. Since he made his debut on the PGA Tour, it seems that he has never changed his putter, not even its grip.
Snedeker plays with Odyssey XG White Hot Rossie putter. Although he has moved on to the new models, but generally, he sticks with the same old club.
Now, this is really interesting, as most players keep changing their clubs and accessories to improve their game.
There is one great saying, however, which states that one does not need to change all the time to bring success. If you are consistent only then you will succeed.
It seems that Snedeker is following this quote by trusting his old putter, as instead of using new ones, he continues to play with his old equipment.
Well, as long as it keeps bringing in laurels for him, he does not need to change. The consistency which the world number eighteen has on the greens only comes with practice and by God, he does practice hard on the greens.
It would be an interesting matchup between the top five. Snedeker clearly has a decent chance but Tiger Woods has got this one in his bag, with all the experience on his side.
Rory McIlroy, will be more focused on the Ryder Cup, as he has already shown what he is made of.
