Branislav Ivanovic says Chelsea must take one Champions League game at a time

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic says that talk of the English Premier League champions reaching the UEFA Champions League final is premature and that the club must work towards that goal one step at a
time.

The Stamford Bridge club are one of the favourites to win this year’s competition, and a win over Russian outfit Spartak Moscow on Wednesday, 3 November, would all but ensure their progression to the next
round after they won all three of their previous group stage games.

While Ivanovic believes that Chelsea can lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium in May, he said that talk was not quite enough and that Carlo Ancelotti’s men had to show on the pitch why they are being touted
as major contenders to become European champions.
'Everyone eager to bring success to Chelsea'

He told reporters that: "Everyone in this club is thinking only of Chelsea and to give to this club success so we can try and win trophies. We have a good enough squad to win this but we have to show this
on the pitch and not just say it.”

"It is an important competition and everyone has in their mind to try and win but it is very difficult to play every game at the same level.

The Serbian international added that it was important to prepare for each team rather than be concerned about any future opponent: "You play the teams from Europe, from other countries and you have to be
ready for every team. I like to go step by step. Now if you think about the final you will never get to the final, you have to go step by step."

Chelsea are at the top of Group F after beating Spartak, Olympique Marseille and MSK Zilina.
