According to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 defender Branislav Ivanovic’s agent, the player is nowhere near a Chelsea exit as reported earlier this week.
The 28-year-old who played a major role for the Blues in the past season when they claimed both the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League trophies, apparently has no desire to leave Stamford Bridge just yet. According to his agent, Ivanovic intends to continue
on at Chelsea in the upcoming seasons.
Ivanovic joined Chelsea from Lokomotiv Moscow in the January transfer window of 2008 for a fee of 9.7 million pounds on a three and a half year contract. He did not make his debut under Avram Grant that season, only playing twice for the reserve side.
Just half a season into his career at Chelsea and Ivanovic was linked with a move away to Serie A sides AC Milan and Juventus. However, he ended up staying and went on to make 26 appearances for the Blues in his first full season at the London club.
In his entire time at Chelsea, Ivanovic has made 158 appearances in all competitions and has found the back of the net 14 times. His achievements with the Blues include the English Premier League, FA Community Shield, UEFA Champions League, along with three
FA Cup trophies.
With the past season having come to a close, Ivanovic has once again been linked with a move away, with Napoli and Real Madrid leading the race for his signature. The La Liga giants under Jose Mourinho are reportedly keen on signing the Serbian if the Blues
are willing to sell.
Serie A side Napoli are also said to be very interested in bringing Ivanovic in, but it seems they would be unable to afford his wages. Ivanovic’s agent Vlado Borozan confirmed that his client would not be leaving in the summer transfer window.
He confirmed:
“Ivanovic extended his contract until 2016 and wants to meet the terms of that deal. Chelsea want to keep him and he has no plans to leave the club, and I don't know if his wages would be within the economic reach of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003.”
