English Premier League side Chelsea’s defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Branislav-Ivanovic-c7994 has revealed he will help new arrival Marko Marin settle at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues confirmed the signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marko-Marin-c24198 as early as April from Werder Bremen on a long term deal for an undisclosed fee. Since the German international has a Serbian background, the Serbian skipper Ivanovic is looking to help him out at the English
Premier League side.
Ivanovic revealed he had first met Marin at the 2010 World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757 when the two sides had faced each other. Just two years later the 23-year-old German was signed by Chelsea and the two players were reunited at the London club.
The Chelsea defender said he was certain the German playmaker would prove to be a success at Stamford Bridge and was determined to help him do well at the club. He revealed that while he could speak to Marin in the Serbian language, the former Werder Bremen
attacking midfielder spoke English.
Ivanovic said while speaking to reporters:
“I met him in the World Cup in 2010 when he played against us for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, and we trained today for the first time together and I am very impressed and feel very positive about him.
He feels confident and he feels ready and this is most important for now.
It is great for me because I can speak the Serbian language with him and I will try to help him but he speaks English already.”
Marin began his career at SG 01 Hoechst, moving to Eintracht Frankfurt in 1996. His last stop at a youth side was at Borussia Monchengladbach in 2005, graduating to the Borussia Monchengladbach II side in 2006 after which he made his debut for the Borussia
Monchengladbach senior team.
He made 68 appearances in the League for Borussia Monchengladbach before moving to Werder Bremen in 2009. He featured in 87 games in the Bundesliga and scored eight goals after the deal with Champions League winners Chelsea was finalized in April.
Marin has featured for Germany at the under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-21 international levels in the past.
